Delta 2021-2022 Prep

On Monday, 8/23, our new 9th grade students and parents are invited to Delta Prep Day at the following times:

10:00-10:30 Last Names A-F
10:30-11:00 Last Names G-M
11:00-11:30 Last Names N-Z

Students will pick up their new laptops, log into the school network, turn in/complete required paperwork, and pick up their class schedules.  If you cannot make it to your scheduled time you may come at any time between 10:00 and 11:30 that day or contact the school office [(509)416-7860]to arrange another time during the week. 

Schedules will be viewable on PowerSchool no later than Monday, August 23^rd.  If there are any errors on your schedule (two math classes, wrong English class, etc.) please complete this short form which will be reviewed by Mrs. Muir.  Please note this form is not a “request” form—to be placed in classes with a friend, a certain teacher, etc., but rather is for errors to the schedule that was created for you: https://tinyurl.com/fall2021-t1schedule

Students who plan to drive to school must have a current Delta Parking Application on file with the main office.  Proof of license and insurance will also be required.  Students will be able to park the first week of school without penalty. 

Please download the Delta Parking Application and return to the front office by Tuesday, September 7th.  

1) REVIEW the 1:1 Student-Parent Agreement Form. Please note that insurance is provided at NO COST to all families this year.  This document will tell you what insurance covers and what the responsibility is to families.  This form does not need to be turned in.

Please familiarize yourself with the content of the 2021-2022 Delta Student Handbook.  As we continue to grow and learn as a school we may make mid-year updates to some procedures and policies, which would be shared with students and updated in our handbook.  [Attendance policy updates should be added prior to the start of the school year.]

This form gives Delta permission, as needed, to use the WARNS assessment to determine levels of support a student might need.  This assessment is only used with a student if it is deemed necessary and allows us to better support student needs.

All students will receive a district laptop for school use. 9th grade students will be assigned a laptop pick-up time on Monday, August 23rd.  If you do not yet have a time scheduled please contact corina.schirmer@thedeltahighschool.com.  

Delta uses Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, available both online and offline. Your student can find many of their applications, known as "MyApps", on the desktop of their laptop. Students have access to different applications, based on their grade level.

For at-home learning, our district will use the following Core 4 applications: 

Homebase: Microsoft Teams 
Your Homebase is a web-based location for exchanging files and communicating within the classroom. Microsoft Teams is a collaborative workspace allowing teachers and students to post work and communicate.

File Storage: OneDrive 
Your file storage is a location to store files, both personal and shared. Students have up to 1 TB of data storage available.

Synchronous Video: Zoom 
This software is for live, interactive meetings with both students and families. It is easy to use! 

Asynchronous Video: Screencast-O-Matic, FlipGrid, Stream 
These are tools for recording videos posted for on-demand learning. 

For all-school (including parent) communication we will be using Remind.  Instructions for joining can be found on this website at the Class of 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 pages, respectively.

Need help with your child’s district laptop? 
PSD offers technical support for both staff and students. The PSD HelpDesk can be reached at (509) 543-6710 or by e-mail at helpdesk@psd1.org. We have English and Spanish speaking technicians ready to help. Many issues can be solved over the phone or remotely. If your child’s device needs on-site repair, HelpDesk will advise you to return the device to your school and check out a new device to ensure your student stays on schedule with learning.

Our partner districts will support families with connectivity. We can help connect you to existing community resources and are working on additional neighborhood and individual options. Please contact Delta if you need assistance.

**IMPORTANT—PLEASE READ ALL INFO HERE** 
All students will be eligible for free lunches this year throughout Washington State.  However, we still need families to complete the free/reduced-price lunch application.  Qualifying students may also be eligible for other benefits, including free or reduced costs for college applications, free enrollment in College in the High School courses at Delta, and more.  Applications may be completed online or on paper.  Any Delta student may apply for free/reduced-price meals through Pasco School District, or you may also apply through your home district.  You may find links to the Nutrition Services department at each district on our Delta website at: Nutrition Services

At this time we expect to be using a schedule similar to the end of the 2020-2021 school year with two lunches built in to support distancing while students are eating and unmasked.  This is the draft schedule below. Alternate schedules will be introduced as needed for any weeks with extra events or days off.

We are still building the schedule for the week of 8/30 and it will be published on our Daily Schedules page soon.  For now, please note that 9th grade will start on Tuesday, August 31, and all students will be at school on Wednesday, 9/1.

At this time, all students and staff will be required to wear masks while indoors at Delta High School.  Three-foot distancing will be the norm in classrooms, with six-foot distancing in the cafeteria during lunches.  For a complete list of current WA State requirements for K-12 schools, see this document.  We will share additional updates as they are shared with us.  We appreciate the support of our students and families as we comply with current regulations and show care for our community by prioritizing health and safety.
