Senior Spotlight! Erin H.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Delta Senior, Erin H. will major in Social Justice, Cultural Studies and Linguistics at Seattle Pacific University.  What does she have to say about her internship… “I work at the Family Learning Center in Kennewick teaching English to refugees. Many of them do not know how to read in their native language, so we teach them two valuable skill sets at a time to help them thrive in America. Every day, I come out of my job smiling because I can see my students grow, not only in their language skills, but their confidence as well. They work so hard to learn all that they can that one cannot help but be inspired by their determination. Hearing someone's first grammatically correct sentence over the phone, just to let you know that they have a doctor's appointment, is heartwarming enough to make one cry. I want to continue working with adult refugees in the future and dedicate my life and career to serving their community.”  Go out and change the world, Erin!
