GPA Display Change in PowerSchool

GPA Display Change in PowerSchool

As a reminder, College in the High School (CiHS) classes are now mandated by the state to count as 1.0 credits per term—even if you are not enrolled in the course for college credit. This will impact how the term GPA is calculated. Report cards handed out last week showed what is referred to as a “simple GPA.” If you have five classes, you add up the grades for the five classes and divide by 5. However, due to the change in state law, the simple GPA is no longer relevant if you are taking any CiHS classes. We now must use a “Weighted GPA,” and the weighted cumulative GPA (for all HS classes taken to date) is what now appears in PowerSchool. GPAs for the awards ceremony are weighted term GPAs, only for the current trimester. If you are interested in seeing examples of GPA calculations, please click here: GPA Calculation Examples
